Certification Grant

Westchester Human Resource Management Association proudly offers an annual professional grant award to WHRMA members seeking their SHRM-CP certification. This grant awards one SHRM-CP certification exam to the selected recipient for the specified exam period. The SHRM-CP Certification Professional Grant is established to offer financial support for WHRMA members to pursue their SHRM-CP certification, foster their professional development, and contribute to the advancement of their HR career.

Eligibility

  • Current active dual SHRM/WHRMA member
  • Active membership from time of application through testing window for which you receive the grant
  • Not currently certified as a SHRM-CP
  • Not yet enrolled to take the SHRM-CP certification exam
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for SHRM-CP certification 
  • Must apply for exam by the SHRM deadline and test in Winter 2026-2027 Window
  • Not receiving any organizational support or reimbursement for SHRM certification exam
 

Application Process

To apply, you must complete the online application and provide the following information:

  • Contact information
  • Short answer questions about academic, volunteer, and work experience; career aspirations; and your need for the grant
  • Current resume
  • One letter from a professional reference, which provides insight into the applicant’s character, career and/or volunteer accomplishments, work ethic, values, and need for this grant
        ▪ Applicant will provide contact information for reference in their application
        ▪ Recommendation letters will not be accepted directly from applicants
        ▪ Reference may be work or volunteer direct supervisor or colleagues, coaches, professors, etc.
        ▪ Reference should not be a family member 
 

Applications are due by October 3, 2026. All applications will be reviewed and one (1) recipient will be selected by mid-October. All decisions are final. Each grant is a one-time grant.

If you are selected to receive the WHRMA SHRM-CP Certification Professional Grant, you will receive one complimentary exam for the SHRM-CP Certification Exam. The exam must be taken in Window #2 (Winter 2026-2027). If you do not use your certification grant for this testing window, you will have to reapply for a future grant, with no guarantee of receiving a new award.

Please note that WHRMA does not reimburse for any other fees, learning system access, study materials, or any associated expenses.
