Certification Grant

Westchester Human Resource Management Association proudly offers an annual professional grant award to WHRMA members seeking their SHRM-CP certification. This grant awards one SHRM-CP certification exam to the selected recipient for the specified exam period. The SHRM-CP Certification Professional Grant is established to offer financial support for WHRMA members to pursue their SHRM-CP certification, foster their professional development, and contribute to the advancement of their HR career.

Eligibility

  • Current active dual SHRM/WHRMA member
  • Active membership from time of application through testing window for which you receive the grant
  • Not currently certified as a SHRM-CP
  • Not yet enrolled to take the SHRM-CP certification exam
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for SHRM-CP certification 
  • Must apply for exam by the SHRM deadline and test in Winter 2025-2026 Window
  • Not receiving any organizational support or reimbursement for SHRM certification exam
 

Application Process

To apply, you must complete the online application and provide the following information:

  • Contact information
  • Short answer questions about academic, volunteer, and work experience; career aspirations; and your need for the grant
  • Current resume
  • One letter from a professional reference, which provides insight into the applicant’s character, career and/or volunteer accomplishments, work ethic, values, and need for this grant
        ▪ Applicant will provide contact information for reference in their application
        ▪ Recommendation letters will not be accepted directly from applicants
        ▪ Reference may be work or volunteer direct supervisor or colleagues, coaches, professors, etc.
        ▪ Reference should not be a family member 
 

Applications are due by June 30, 2025. All applications will be reviewed and one (1) recipient will be selected by August 1, 2025. All decisions are final. Each grant is a one-time grant.

If you are selected to receive the WHRMA SHRM-CP Certification Professional Grant, you will receive one complimentary exam for the SHRM-CP Certification Exam. The exam must be taken in Window #2 (Winter 2025-2026). If you do not use your certification grant for this testing window, you will have to reapply for a future grant, with no guarantee of receiving a new award.

Please note that WHRMA does not reimburse for any other fees, learning system access, study materials, or any associated expenses.
