    Developing managers and leaders doesn’t begin when they step into that first (or next) leadership role.  Organizations have the opportunity to take a multifaceted approach to leadership development that plays out across their broader talent management practices.  From onboarding and traditional learning and development, to succession management and talent planning, there are opportunities to develop your leaders at all stages of the employee lifecycle.

    Kate will share how she has seen her organization develop leaders through multiple talent management programs and how you can think through the most appropriate approach to develop your current and future leaders.

    Speaker:  Kate McGovern Santos, Vice President, Career & Talent Planning American Express

    Kate is currently the head of Career & Talent Planning in Human Resources, overseeing global talent assessments and reviews for potential, as well as the succession and career management strategy for the organization. 

    Prior to her current role, Kate was Chief of Staff to the Chief Talent Officer at American Express where she assisted in setting and executing an integrated talent management strategy.  She has also held positions in both the Leadership Development and Learning organizations at American Express.  In her Leadership Development role, she was responsible for the assessment, development planning and onboarding of critical executive talent across the organization.  During her time in the Learning organization, Kate designed and deployed learning solutions and resources available to American Express employees, globally, with a focus on leadership development and new people leaders.

    Before joining American Express, Kate was Vice President in the Risk Management Awareness & Training team at Citigroup where she led the design and deployment of compliance related training initiatives for the global organization.  Kate started her career at Citi as an analyst in Global Wealth Management (GWM) Operations. 

    Kate has a Master of Professional Studies degree in Human Resource Management from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from James Madison University.
